After 36 years of providing dental care to the community of Grand Forks, I have made the difficult decision to retire from my practice. Since 1982, it has been my great privilege to care for you and so many wonderful people – often three and four generations of families. It has been my pleasure and honor to do so, and I have enjoyed treating every one of you. As the relationships that I have built with all of you and your continuing care are so important to me, I am committed to making this transition the best for you and your dental health.
In finding a successor, I was determined that they would continue to provide the quality care for which you have given me your loyalty for over these past many years. After completing an extensive search, I am thrilled to announce that I have chosen Dr. Scott Amundson to continue my practice and provide your care. Dr. Amundson was born and raised in Grand Forks and is the son of Dr. Roger and Kim Amundson. Therefore, as of January 1, 2019, Great Northern Dental Care will be continued by the Amundson family. I have been personal friends with the Amundsons for many years and know Dr. Scott very well. He and I share a relationship-based philosophy of service, concentrating on good listening and individualized attention. He is caring and empathetic as well as thorough. I have the utmost confidence that he, with the assistance of my highly trained team, will treat you like family and provide you with highly skilled dental care in the very comfortable, gentle manner to which you are accustomed.
Dr. Scott's background is impressive. He graduated Summa Cum Laude from Marquette University School of Dentistry and is furthering his education and training at the internationally recognized Pankey Institute of Advanced Dental Education. He is looking forward to meeting all of you and to continuing your care here at Great Northern Dental along with the familiar faces of your dental team. I am so appreciative of the loyalty and trust that you have placed in me over the years, and I am confident that you will continue to be pleased with Dr. Amundson's care.
With much gratitude and appreciation,
Dr. John Clayburgh
Great Northern Dental Care Family,
I am beyond excited to have the opportunity to care for you, your family, and friends. I know Dr. John Clayburgh has greatly appreciated his time spent caring for you all, and I am humbled and honored that he has chosen me to continue on his passion for comfortable, quality, patient-centered care. Allow me a few moments to introduce myself.
I was born and raised in Grand Forks. My wife, Karlie, is also a Grand Forks native and we have been happily married for 5 years. Both of us attended the University of North Dakota for our undergraduate degrees. After completion of our undergraduate degrees, we moved to Milwaukee, Wisconsin, where I received my Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from Marquette University. Though we both loved Milwaukee (and still love to visit!), Karlie and I decided to move back home to Grand Forks after my graduation from dental school. She currently works as a Registered Nurse in Dermatology while I have been practicing dentistry in Grand Forks since May 2017.
Following graduation, I have enjoyed learning through various continuing education courses, including the Pankey Institute – a program that Dr. Clayburgh also attended during his career that focuses on individualized, patient focused care. I have long been part of the family tradition of valuing dental care and health, and believe that continual learning is the way to provide you all with the best care possible.
The team at Great Northern Dental Care will help me to continue providing you and your family exceptional service and care. I look forward to meeting and getting to know each of you, and want to care for you in the same way Dr. Clayburgh has been able to for so many years. Again, it is truly an honor to have the opportunity to care for you, your family, and friends.
Scott M Amundson, DDS
